The effects of flu
Influenza is a highly contagious virus that causes widespread illness in the community and workplace each year. Fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, headaches and fatigue are all symptoms of the flu. The flu can also lead to secondary complications, increasing absenteeism and hospital admissions.
Keeping a healthy workplace
Cold and flu season can be devastating to an office environment if everyone doesn’t help to keep it clean and germ-free. Tips to maintain a healthy workplace include:
- Sanitise surfaces often – wipe down phones, desks, computers, equipment and communal areas thoroughly several times a day to minimise germs
- Keep a supply of tissues and sanitisers available
- Wash or sanitise hands regularly
- Stay home – employees should feel comfortable to stay home if they have active symptoms
